Welcome to the Lions Clubs of Stowmarket and District and Bury St Edmunds. This website promotes the work we do in supporting local charities, local causes and individuals within our local community.

It also promotes businesses within our local community who support us through advertising on the website. Every penny we receive through advertising revenue goes to support the fund raising activities of the Lions Clubs of Stowmarket & District and Bury St Edmunds.

We have also created an online High Street where every purchase made through this website generates a commission and all that commission goes to St Nicholas Hospice Care.

Last year Stowmarket & District Lions Club and Bury St Edmunds Lions Club raised over £60,000 for local charities serving the local community. For a flavour of some of the fundraising activities we arrange please click here

Ernie Pearce Memorial Charity Boxing Dinner @ Debenham Sports and Leisure Club
Friday 17th March 2017

For EADT Coverage on their website by Matt Reason - PLEASE CLICK HERE

Master of Ceremonies, John Webb welcomed everyone on behalf of the Lions club of Stowmarket and district to this charity boxing dinner in memory of Lion Ernie Pearce, who sadly passed away last year. This event and future events will be known as the Ernie Pearce Memorial Charity Boxing Dinner. As many of you know, Ernie worked tirelessly over many years in our community raising hundreds of thousands of pounds for charitable causes. The annual boxing dinner held a special place in Ernie's heart and he loved organising the event for us all to enjoy.

John Webb then invited all present in the tradition of boxing circles to listen to the ringing of the bell 10 times and then give a one-minute round of applause for Lion Ernie Pearce - CLICK HERE

With over 46,000 clubs and 1.4m members worldwide Lions International is the largest Service club organisation raising funds and providing voluntary hands-on community work on a local and global scale.

Explains Branch Secretary Marie Compain, “Our core membership was established by a social network of friends and neighbours and now we are hoping to attract active and enthusiastic members from all over Bury and the surrounding villages to join us in our efforts. Despite the challenging economic conditions, there is still a strong spirit of generosity throughout the region and we would like to thank everyone who has supported us so far.”

With a strong emphasis on fun the Lions already have a wide range of fund-raising activities planned for 2013 which are intended to continue the Lions tradition of community support and providing much needed assistance to worthy local causes.

The Lions welcome members of all ages and from all walks of life. Anyone interested in joining or helping from time to time can contact the Bury Lions Club by completing your details on our webpage
