Lions Club of Stowmarket
and District, one of the largest Lions Groups in the
country publish this website as a joint venture with the Lions Club of Bury St Edmunds to promote what we do and to gain revenue for
the work that Lions do in our local community supporting local hospices, youth
organisations, medical research groups, charities, and local individuals. Last year our Lions Clubs raised over £50,000 as well as our supporting local charities and causes with help in resourcing their own fund raising events ranging from collecting monies for The Royal British Legion to helping with marshaling St Nicholas Hospice Care "Girls Night Out". opportunity for local businesses to promote themselves on the website
which will serve as a comprehensive directory of local businesses. The
area we cover can be found here
cost – just £52 per annum including any required amendments during that
12 months and every penny of advertising revenue received goes tosupport the fund raising activities of the Lions Clubs of Stowmarket & District and Bury St Edmunds. Last year we helped some 55 local organisations.
We have also created a “Virtual High
Street” for the website offering the best Online deals AND again helping
the Lions serve the local community because every Online purchase made
delivers a commission and every penny of that goes to St Nicholas Hospice Care.

fundraising activities. Lions also support small groups and individuals

Lion members will often have their own charities which they support as well as the charities that the Group supports.
Lion Kevin – a Director of a local haulage company, works with Children from Chernobyl
and every year arranges for a group of children to come to Suffolk
where they are housed by local supporters and treated to a range of
activities, day trips and helped with health care issues.
Brian just after his 75th birthday set off to cycle anti-clockwise
around England covering a total of 2,200 miles and raising over £6,700
towards his charity the British Heart Foundation Mending Broken Hearts
Appeal. Brian is the Lion behind the annual Suffolk Villages Charity Bike Ride
Lion Ernie arranges an annual boxing event which this year raised over £11,000
help hospices, emergency services, health care organisations, organise
boxing events, sponsored walks, sponsored cycling events, run an annual
charity shop, help park cars, serve behind bars, shake tins, take groups
less fortunate to the seaside for the day for fish and chips – whatever
